Modern Folk/Bluegrass band ala Nickle Creek
Every month or whatever, ASCAP sends all it's members endless notices about meetings and expos that vary in interest from nil to lots, always interesting stuff for the musicians and music lovers out there. Included in all this stuff is an ASCAP Network Audio Portraits, which focuses on a group or person, they try to hit all types of music. Well, the one I got today was pretty good, they're called Tripping Lily, and perhaps they're just new to me, but I listened to the entire thing, which has several tracks of their stuff, with voiceovers interviews and such, I highly recommend it. I don't think you have to be in ASCAP to listen to it, plus I think you can listen to it from the band's myspace page. It impressed me enough that I'm hitting itunes right now. The track "Nothing Goes" reminds me of a quirky Chris Thile ballad. Also, all the instruments the band plays were made by the same Chicago based maker, something I find interesting in how that effects the sound. Talk about sonic meshing.

Thanks, Will!  I checked them out.  They look like a band to keep an eye on.  I need to find the cd.
